California Massachusetts and Florida lead the top stopped direct mail and catalog opt out choices between September 30th 2007 and October 6th 2007. These are the the top United States Postal Service customers that are stopping unwanted or unneeded junk mail on a daily basis.
These states were the most active in stopping junk mail. I thought it might be interesting to look at request to stop junk mail by city. The leading cities in the top ten were Baton Rouge LA, Las Vegas NV and San Francisco CA for this same time period.
Am thinking another interesting statistic might be catalog choice by city might in the future.

California and New York topped the junk mail opt outs for the week ending September 29th, 2007. The statistics are produced from the acutal stop usage by stopthejunkmail.com clients.
The physical size of California is the third largest state by area in the U.S.A. According to the wikipedia.org, by 2007, California’s population has reached 37,700,000, making it the most populated state, and is the 13th fastest-growing state.
In physical size New York ranks 27th out of the 50 states. New York was the third largest state in population after California and Texas, with an estimated population of 19,306,183.
